Richard “Rich” Allen Teska Sr. 89 of Harrison passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida. Richard was born October 27, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Frederick and Francis (LaBelle) Teska. Richard graduated in 1947 from Slocum Truax High School, Trenton, Michigan. While in high school, Rich played all sports, and many times, he played two-three sports in the same sporting season. He lettered in each sport he participated in. Upon graduation, Mr. Teska enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. After fulfilling his military duty, Rich was united in marriage to Ms. Beatrice E. Winton on July 7, 1950 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Trenton, Michigan.

                Rich had resided in Harrison since 1979, moving from Trenton. He worked seventeen years with the Trenton School system as a custodian. Upon moving to Harrison, Rich was employed with Harrison Community Schools as a custodian and school bus driver for over ten years. Rich was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #2235 of Harrison. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and collecting coins and stamps. Rich was loyal to his Michigan professional sporting teams, always cheering on the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings. He also held a great love for University of Michigan College ball.

                Surviving Mr. Teska are his three daughters; Judy Lynn Frazier and husband Claud of Harrison, Robin Kay Beemer of Punta Gorda, Florida and Cathy Dean Nagy and husband Gene of Harrison, one son, Richard A. Teska Jr. of Flat Rock, Michigan, eighteen grandchildren; Betty Gorman and husband Jim, Brandy Farraj and husband Jessie, Elizabeth Frazier and Eric Linton, Scott Frazier and wife Casi, Phillis Chapman and Mike Borgia, Charlie Beemer Jr. and wife Emily, Richard Teska III and Heather Kiser, Ellen Vassallo and husband Dave, Scott Busselman and Mike Grifford, twenty great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews. Mr. Teska was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and best friend of fifty-three years, Mrs. Beatrice E. Teska and two brothers; Frederick Teska and Robert Teska.

                Funeral services for Rich will be held             Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. Visitation will take place Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home. Military honors will be presented to Mr. Teska under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 1075-Harrison. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial gifts in memory of Rich may be considered to the Teska family.
