RICHARD CHARLES LOHMANN

                Richard Charles Lohmann 89 of Harrison passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Richard was born July 10, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Carl Bernard Lohmann and Pearl Ann (Beauvois) Lohmann. Richard graduated from Pershing High School in 1949. Upon his graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lohmann had resided in Harrison since 1998, moving from Venice, Florida and previously from Emmett, Michigan. Richard retired from the City of Detroit as a Firefighter, serving the Detroit community for over thirty-five years.

                Richard was united in marriage to the former Catherine Grillo on June 13, 1998 in Shelby Township, Michigan. Mr. Lohmann was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison. He became a Knight with the Knights of Columbus in 1960 and later earned his 3rd degree Knight status with St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 7571. Richard was a long-time member of the Detroit Fire Fighters Association. Richard spent his younger days playing baseball and earned a pitching spot in the minor league with the Cleveland Indians. For many years Richard created and assembled over fifty wooden model ships. Richard enjoyed his retirement years in Harrison playing golf with his family and friends at The Tamaracks Golf Course, Harrison. He enjoyed cooking at home as well as his enlistment with the Marine Corps and Detroit Fire Department. Richard found a passion in photography, taking many pictures for family and friends.

                Surviving Mr. Lohmann is his loving wife of twenty-two years, Mrs. Catherine Lohmann of Harrison, two children; Kathleen Wichman and husband Robert of Dryden, Michigan and Craig Lohmann and wife Lynn of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, four step-children; Theresa VanderMeulen and husband Ronald of Lake Orion, Michigan, Kevin Jaracz of Ray Township, Michigan, Bryon Jaracz of Armada, Michigan and Steven Jaracz and wife Sandra of Shelby Township, Michigan, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandsons and a great grandchild arriving soon, one brother, Raymond Lohmann and wife Barbara of Chesterfield, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Lohmann was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Lohmann.

                A Funeral Mass celebrating Richard will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038, with Reverend Marc Rybinski officiating.
