HARRISON – On the morning of Monday, Aug. 9, another Quilt of Valor was presented by QOV Foundation representative Judy Tritten at the Veterans Freedom Park in Harrison. The recipient was Army Specialist Steven Scherrer who was home on leave from Fort Stewart in Georgia. Scherrer is pictured with his proud uncle Dan Sullivan, who shared in the occasion.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation is an organization which was created to honor those who serve in this nation’s military. It states its mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. To that end, it has organized thousands of stitchers and presenters dedicated to fulfilling that mission.
Founded in 2003 by Blue Star Mother Catherine Roberts, the organization had awarded 278,847 quilts as of July 31, 2021. More information on the Quilts of Valor Foundation and how to become a part of its work can be found at qovf.org.
