PHILIP “OLD PHIL” CHARLES TOWNSEND

                Philip “Old Phil” Charles Townsend 86 of Hamilton Township, Clare County, Michigan passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 20, 2021. Philip was born February 9, 1935, at the family home in Hamilton Twp., the son of Lee and Lila (Mathews) Townsend. Mr. Townsend was united in marriage to Ms. Faye Fawn Wolsleger on November 7, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan. Mrs. Townsend preceded Philip in death on October 21, 2011, after fifty-seven years of marriage. Philip had resided in Hamilton Township his entire lifetime.

                Mr. Townsend retired from General Motors Corporation-Saginaw Steering Gear Division after thirty-Five years as a Foreman. Philip was an avid fisherman, ice fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He also enjoyed working in the woods, watching televised news channels, and listening to Gospel and Country music.

                Surviving Philip are his three loving children: Linda Mann of Harrison, Charles Townsend of Harrison, Michigan and Ricky Townsend and wife Kay of Gladwin, Michigan, two grandchildren: Dawn Tuck of Harrison and Lee Townsend of Gladwin, three great-grandchildren: Johnathon Colton, Montgomery Townsend and Marcella Townsend, one sister in-law, Ruth of Maple Rapids, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Townsend was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Laura Reynolds and Vera Lamdin, and one brother, Roger Townsend.

                Funeral services honoring Mr. Townsend will be held Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Gary Biggs officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in Cedar Crest Cemetery, Hamilton Township.
