PATRICIA “PATTY” LEE MILLER

               Patricia “Patty” Lee Miller 70 of Harrison passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Woodland Hospice House, Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Patricia was born August 12, 1951, in Harrison, the daughter of G. Willard Schaaf and Georgia (Vollmer) Schaaf. Patty graduated from Harrison High School, class of 1969. On October 7, 1972, in Harrison, Patricia was united in marriage to Mr. John Mark Miller. Mr. Miller preceded Patty in death in 2010 after thirty-eight years of marriage.

                Mrs. Miller was a lifetime resident of Harrison. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Harrison for most of her lifetime, where she was very active and committed to her church and church family. Patty also belonged to the Women of the Moose, Chapter #1804, Harrison and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #408, Harrison. Pat was employed with Nina’s Beauty Shop of Harrison for seventeen years, before opening Pat’s Beauty Shop of Harrison for thirty-one years. Pat was a cake baker and decorator for over forty-eight years. Pat enjoyed Baking, collecting dolls, Winnie-the-Pooh figurines and collectables, caring for her floral gardens, and volunteering many hours with the Clare County Baby Pantry.           

                Surviving Patty is her son, Brian M. Miller and fiancé Chandra Husketh-Szyska of Eastpointe, Michigan, one granddaughter, Jennifer Thormeier and husband Curt of Farwell, Michigan, two great-grandchildren; Mason Thormeier and Addy Thormeier, one sister, Marie Roth and husband David of Harrison, three sister’s in-law; Ruth Donaldson of Flushing, Michigan, Jean Blackledge of Gladwin, Michigan, Lois List of Mason, Michigan and Naomi Krell and husband Richard of Clare, Michigan, three brother’s in-law; Ezra E. Miller of Clare, Donald Miller of Tallahassee, Florida and Robert E. Miller and wife Susan of Ashville, North Carolina, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, special friends; Lisa Miller of Coleman, Michigan, John and Chris Tait of Weidman, Michigan, Deanna Ahac of Midland, Michigan, Jan and Paul Meyers of Harrison and her boyfriend, Roger Peska of Ithaca, Michigan. Patty also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Beatrice Gann, one brother, Ernie E. Schaaf, two sisters in-law; Marian Miller and Dorothy Lapham, four brothers in -law; Don Gann, Vernon Miller, Garold Donaldson and Timothy List.

                Life Celebration services in honor of Patty will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. from First Congregational United Church of Christ, 211 W. Spruce St., Harrison with Pastors Vaughn Peterson and Connie Bongard officiating. A time of gathering for Patty will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
