MMC President Tim Hood ‘Meets and Greets’ in Harrison

Posted

On Friday, July 16, the City of Harrison and the Harrison Chamber of Commerce hosted a meet and greet for Mid Michigan College President Tim Hood. While Hood has been in his position for over a year, COVID-19 prevented him from meeting many in the community.

In 2020, Hood navigated MMC through COVID-19, the financial challenge of restructuring staff to meet budget, and building renovations at Harrison.

Before the coffee and cookie meet and greet at Harrison City Hall, Tracey Connelly and Kristine Stevens took Hood on n 80-minute tour of the area.

Hood was pleasantly surprised with all that Harrison has to offer, the large amount in grant dollars received, the $26 million school bonds, the splash pad and Town Square, City Market, Harrison District Library project, Harrison City Park, Wilson State Park, medical complex, and the water treatment center, and more.  He also was impressed with Harrison’s infrastructure.

“The depth of what you have for a community this size suggests the health of the economy and all the make a desirable place to live,” Hood commented.

Hood also mentioned the formation of a MMC alumni group. Any student who had attended the college since it opened would be welcome to join.

Hood was given a welcome bag containing goodies from local businesses that included Up North Coffee, Cupcakes by Tammy Sue, Country Flowers, Walraven’s Country Market, Clare County Cleaver, Creations by Krahn, Petoskey Stone Gallergy, and 4X Adventureland & X'Scape.

Hood thanked everyone for taking the time to attend with a gift of his own, a free Lifelong Learning course to anyone who was in attendance.
