Mid Michigan College’s Laker Athletic teams have experienced heart-stopping highlights and exceptional performances from student-athletes this season.
Cross Country
Mid’s harriers set personal records throughout the season and two members of the men’s team, Drew Moore (Grayling) and Mason Cross (Shepherd), qualified for Nationals in Virginia. The men’s and women’s teams continue to experience great results, steady growth, and look forward to being back on the course in August.
Clay Target
The coed clay target shooting team had a successful fall season, culminating in a trip to the national competition. They have been looking forward to the spring season, which begins in March.
Baseball and Softball
The Lakers recently completed spring training, with Mid’s baseball team traveling to South Carolina and the softball team traveling to Florida. As the season kicks off in April, both teams look to build upon last year’s success.
Bowling
Mid’s bowling teams ruled the lanes this year, with both teams winning conference titles. The men’s team won their Region XII Tournament and placed sixth at the NJCAA Nationals – their best finish ever. Brett Petersen (Ionia) finished ninth in All-Events at Nationals, just one spot shy of being named an All-American.
The women’s bowling team earned the runner-up spot in the Region XII Tournament, and placed fifth at the NJCAA Nationals – also their best finish in team history. Khalia Bulla (Shepherd) finished fourth in All-Events and is Mid Michigan College’s first ever All-American Bowler.
Basketball
The men’s basketball team won the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) North Conference, their first-ever solo title. The Lakers entered the NJC District tournament, but were eliminated, 73-65, by the ninth-ranked Macomb Monarchs.
The women’s basketball team won the MCCAA North Conference, the MCCAA State Championship for the third consecutive year, the Great Lakes District C Tournament, and is currently competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament.
