Michigan State Police Identify Suspect and Victim in Marion Shooting

Shooting in the Village of Marion

The suspect in this incident has been identified as Dale Ervin Orvis, age 36, of Marion. He was arraigned on May 17, 2022 in Osceola District Court for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault).
The victim has been identified as Gabriel Charles Richards, age 31, of Marion. He is recovering from injuries sustained from the incident. The incident remains under investigation. 

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

MARION, MI. On May 15, 2022 at 6:45p.m., troopers from the Mount Pleasant Post were sent to a shooting complaint that occurred on Main Street in the Village of Marion, Osceola County. The victim was transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. The suspect was detained at the scene, was lodged at the Osceola County Jail, and is pending arraignment. Additional information will be released at a later date.

Troopers were assisted by the Cadillac Michigan State Police Post, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and Meceola Central Dispatch.
