Lyle Shaver, 90, from Mission, Texas, formerly of Holt and Clare, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Comfort House in McAllen, Texas. He was born on July 5, 1929 in Clare, Michigan to Albert and Ruby Shaver. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Donald, and Vernell Shaver, and sister Velma Clark.

Lyle was a millwright at General Motors in Lansing, Michigan for 37 years. He retired from GM in 1983. He enjoyed his retirement years, taking many trips with his wife, Darlene. They traveled extensively, including a long but beautiful drive to Alaska. Their travels eventually took them to Texas, where they have been “winter Texans” for over 30 years.

Lyle was a loving husband, father and friend and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a great storyteller and loved listening to others share their stories. He also loved to dance and could often be found on the dance floor.

One of his favorite places was his property in Michigan. Lyle loved hunting, fishing and just being outside, especially in the woods. He also enjoyed relaxing on his patio with Darlene at their home in Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Shaver; children: Terry (Earl) Mason, Bud (Nancy) Shaver, Pam Shaver, Bonnie (Roy) Rennirt, Tom (Terri) Shaver, Todd (JoLynn) Peck, Chris (Scott) Brown, Matt Peck; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; brother: Ronald (Anna) Shaver; sister: Dorothy Gorham; as well as many great friends and family members.

A private celebration of Lyle’s life will take place at a later date.  If desired, memorial contributions in Lyle’s name can be made to: Comfort House, 617 Dallas Avenue, McAllen, TX 78501.
