Live Nativity by the Clare United Methodist Church Continues Tradition

Posted

Many folks expressed their enjoyment of watching the Live Nativity, complete with animals (a donkey and sheep) hosted Dec. 23 and 24 by the Clare United Methodist Church at Witbeck’s Family Foods store in Clare.  This is an event that has occurred since the 1970s with the exception of the last two years due to COVID-19.

It was with pure joy that our church was again able to host this event.  It was a snowy day that added to the ambiance of the event and especially nice that it quit snowing just before and during the event for safety and easier viewing.  The stable that had not been in use for a couple of years needed many renovations, which Bobbie and Lee Schunk gladly took upon themselves to do.

Part of the renovations included repairing and replacing the star that stood high above the stable.  They also installed two heaters and heated floor mats, which the volunteers appreciated.  Our church plans to do this event annually.  We sure hope that many more can come next year and add to their Christmas experience by watching the wonder of the baby Jesus in the manger with Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men and the shepherds looking on.
