Posted

On Friday, January 17, 2025 at 10:04 a.m. the Clare County Central Dispatch received a call from the Veterans Crisis Hotline reporting a male had contacted them and made threatening statements towards the Clare VA Clinic.  Deputies with the Clare County Sheriff Office were made aware of the threats, and were able to contact the Veterans Crisis Line.  Deputies were able to identify the caller as 70 year old Robert Hubble from Lake George.  It was reported Robert had made several phone calls to the crisis line. During one of these phone calls, Robert threatened to go to the Clare VA Clinic and shoot the place up if he was not seen on this date.

The Clare VA Clinic was placed into lockdown while the threats were being investigated.  Robert was arrested at his residence and was lodged in the Clare County Jail.  He was arraigned in the 80th District Court Clare County on the charge of malicious use of a telecommunication device.  His bond was set at $100,000 bond with 10% accepted.  Robert posted bond on January 18.

As part of this investigation, a search warrant was conducted at Robert’s residence.  This resulted in the seizure of a number of firearms.  The Clare County Sheriff’s Office was assisted with this investigation by the Michigan State Police Post out of the Mount Pleasant Post.
