HARRISON – A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Kevin M. Sherwood Memorial Scholarship will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Harrison Moose Lodge, 5185 N. Clare Ave. Cost will be by freewill donation, with proceeds going to raise funds to provide scholarships to individuals attending the Delta College Police Academy, in remembrance of the late Clare County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin M. Sherwood.

The event will include a lotto board, a 50/50 drawing and more. Raffle tickets are also available to win a Remington Model 700, .30-06 rifle [raffle license No. R56774] at a cost of $5 each. Tickets will be on sale Feb. 29 at Cops and Doughnuts in Clare, and anyone wishing to help with raffle ticket sales through March 5 is encouraged to email Kim Davis at davisk@clareco.net or call her at 989-539-7166, ext. 4236.

Kevin Sherwood was a nine-year veteran of the Clare County Sheriff Department whose End Of Watch came, at age 37, when he lost his life in the early morning hours of Oct. 9, 2003, in a car crash on U.S. 127 near Hatton Road while investigating reports of a driver traveling the wrong way on that highway. It was the driver Sherwood was searching for who collided with his patrol car.
