Judy Ann Brenner, 74, of Freeland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon December 1, 2021, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Judy was born July 18, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late J.D. and Mildred (Price) Blackledge. She was raised in Harrison, attended Harrison Schools, and graduated from Harrison High School. During high school she met the love of her life, Lonnie L. Brenner. She continued her education at Michigan State University and in her sophomore year of college, she married Lon on January 14, 1967, in Clare. He survives her. She finished her degree in elementary school education at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Judy would later go on to receive her master’s degree from Central Michigan University in Counseling and completed Interior Design school in Tucson, Arizona.

Judy’s career path took many different forms over the years - she was a stay-at-home mom, a teacher and substitute teacher at St. Johns Lutheran School for many years, an interior designer with Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. for over ten years and an amazing counselor to many across the country.

Judy was a Bible study teacher and loved to share her love of the Lord and had a passion for helping and caring for others. She loved the beauty of nature, gardening and working in her yard, interior design, and traveling the world with Lon. Cooking, baking and sharing it with everyone was another expression of her love of others.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years, Lon; children Lonnie Jay (Reagan) Brenner and Amy Lee (Ernie, Jr.) Kremling; six grandchildren; brothers Jay (Beverly) Blackledge and Douglas (Samantha) Blackledge; sisters Joy Gierucki and Karen (Craig) LeRouix; sister-in-law Nadine and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that where all as close as family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Blackledge, Clifford Blackledge and baby brother Lonnie Dale.

Funeral services for Judy will take place at 12 noon, Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Ware-Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gib Giblin, with burial in West Side Cemetery in Freeland. Her family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service.

A celebration gathering to honor Judy’s life will be held at a later date.
