JOHN ANDREW SMITH

John Andrew Smith, age 61, of Harrison passed away suddenly on July 27, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Clare. John was born on July 13, 1958 in Flint, Michigan the son of John Gardner Smith and Donna Jane (Dupuis) Smith. John graduated from Davison High School in 1976. Mr. Smith was united in marriage to his best friend and soulmate, Ms. Anna Marie Cameron on December 26, 1992 in Davison, Michigan.

            John had resided in Harrison since 2013, moving from Davison. He retired from AC Spark Plug of Flint, after thirty years as a Model Maker and Welder. Deciding he couldn’t retire full-time, John took a job with the Michigan DNR as a seasonal worker. John was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235 of Harrison. Mr. Smith lived life to the fullest, especially when he was; golfing, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, camping, tinkering around his yard and pole barn and acquiring various guy-toys. The best times of his life were spent spoiling his grandchildren and making memories with his wife and children.

            Surviving John is his loving wife Anna M. Smith of Harrison, five children: Colleen (Robert) Brown, Kevin (Laurie) McConnell, John Smith II, Jamie (Brandon) Gildner and Ryan (Mary) McConnell, mother Donna Smith, fifteen grandchildren: Haylie, Bailey, Hannah, Tyler, Antonio, Carlos, Noah, Andrew, Adriana, Jase, Emma, Camden, Logan, Piper and Julian, three siblings: Jeff Smith, Jerry (Sue) Smith and Jane (Rob) Bergeron, father and mother in law Jim and Pauline Cameron, sister in law Lora (Tom) Fraser, plus several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father John G. Smith, brother in law Jimmy Cameron and beloved dog Maggie.

            Family and friends are encouraged to gather on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Stocking Funeral Home in Harrison for a time of visitation from 12-3pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 3pm honoring John. Memorial gifts in John’s memory may be made to Little Long Lake Association - Fish Fund or Clare County Veterans Freedom Park.
