Head-on Crash Claims Clare Man

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, deputies responded to the area of Clare Avenue and Lincoln in Hatton Township for a report of a two-car head-on vehicle crash.

Deputies found that a red colored Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by an 84-year-old Clare man, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane on Clare Avenue near Lincoln when it collided head on with a silver colored Ford truck pulling a trailer with livestock, driven by a 45-year-old Sterling man, traveling southbound. 

The driver of the red Ford Ranger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the silver Ford pickup was treated for injuries and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Michigan State Police- Mount Pleasant Post, Michigan DNR- Law Enforcement Division, Clare City Police-UAV / Drone Unit, Harrison Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service, Clare County Road Commission and Auto Solution’s Towing.
