It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Tazzia, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world on March 13, 2025, at the age of 76. Harry was born on August 21, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, to Najib (Jim) and Anna Tazzia.
Harry dedicated his life to service, working for decades at the Veterans Administration, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and commitment. His career was marked by a deep respect for those who served their country, and he was proud to be part of an organization that honored and supported veterans.
In addition to his professional life, Harry was a cherished member of the community. He was a proud Knight of Columbus and a regular volunteer at St. Athanasius Church. Harry's contributions to the communities of Harrison, Michigan, and Floral City, Florida, were invaluable, and he was well-loved by all who knew him. His retirement years were filled with joy, thanks in part to the warm welcome he and his wife, Sue, received from their neighbors and friends.
Harry was a passionate man, especially when it came to his hobbies. He had a deep love for motorcycles, often traveling across the country on his bike, embracing the freedom of the open road. He enjoyed working in his beloved pole barn, where he spent countless hours tinkering and creating. Harry also had a fondness for riding dirt bikes and cherished moments spent dining at the Moose, sharing laughter and good times with family and friends.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Tazzia, who was his partner in life and love. He leaves behind his beloved children, Joanna and James, as well as his stepchildren, Jeff, Tim, Amy, and Michael. Harry's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Amber and Elizabeth, and stepgrandchildren, Michael, Abby, Emma, Zachary, Zoe, Benjamin, and Mason. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Catherine, Joyce, Jamie, and Judy, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents by his dear sister, Sue Rush, who he remembered fondly and whose spirit undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
Funeral visitation will take place at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel in Harrison, MI from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025, with rosary service at 7 PM. A funeral service to honor Harry's life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11 AM, at St. Athanasius Church. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the lives of many through his love, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Athanasius Church or the Knights of Columbus Council 7571, organizations that were dear to Harry’s heart. A special message of gratitude goes out to everyone at St. Athanasius, the Knights of Columbus, and the communities of Harrison, MI, and Floral City, FL. Your kindness and support made Harry's retirement a truly joyful time, and your love will continue to be a source of comfort for his family.
