Harrison Alum Matt House to Coach at Superbowl LIV

Posted

And just like that Harrison roots for the Kansas City Chiefs in this year’s Superbowl LIV.

Harrison Community Schools alumni Matt House, in his first year as linebackers coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, will head to Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida, Sunday to face the San Francisco 49ers.

House is a 1996 graduate of Harrison High School and the son of Tom and Cathy House.  He received his higher education at Michigan State University with the intent to be a teacher and coach, or as the House family likes to joke, “the next Dick Harris.” A longtime Harrison teacher and coach, Harris was a mentor and role model to House.

Cathy House told the Cleaver that Harrison is a community that is “always proud of their Harrison alumni” and she believes in the statement that it takes a village to raise a child.  “The best acknowledgement of him is the lifelong support of Matt from the community,” she said.

Tom and Cathy House’s five children are spread across the United States and one in Taiwan.

Matt House’s official biography is a long list of accomplishments and positions in and out of the NFL and collegiate football that led him to work for the Chiefs (see info box).

He lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife and four children. Follow Matt House on Twitter at @CoachMHouse.

Unfortunately, Tom and Cathy House are not able to attend the Superbowl on Sunday, but told Matt to “Do it again next year and we’ll be there.”
