Good Vibes at New Salon and Boutique in Harrison

Jenna Neill Opens Vibe With Me Salon and Boutique

HARRISON – Jenna Neill may be a familiar face to many. Neill’s image graces a Clare County Transit bus through Clare County Veterans Services for her service in the Army and to bring attention to services available to veterans.

Neill is finding her vibe with the purchase of Artistic Creations salon on Second Street in Harrison. [See ad on page 7.]

Deb Phelps has owned the salon since 2003, but has been serving many of her clients for over 30 years.

“They have all been so loyal to me, I’m so grateful to my clients and thank them for being with me and putting their hair in my hands,” Phelps said. “None of the girls [Deb, Sonja, Maggie and Andrea] are leaving, we are all staying.”

Phelps is excited for the opportunity for Neill and will continue to work part time.

“I’ll be there every step of the way if she needs help,” she said. “Jenna is a good fit; she is really fun. She is so down to earth.”

Phelps also cites local real estate agent Lisa Vasher for a smooth transition in selling Neill the business.

Neill plans to manage the salon and is creating a boutique space and renaming the business Vibe With Me Salon and Boutique. There is a fifth chair in the salon that could be filled in the future.

B&J Country Crafts, Neill and her fiancé Buddy Bristol’s business will also move into the Second Street location. They have been working since early 2022 creating and selling at shows handmade jewelry, wood crafts and country chic designs.

The garage will be retrofitted to accommodate the woodworking and custom craft side of the business.

In addition to their craft offerings, Neill will carry many children’s clothing lines made in the USA.

“The boutique will focus on kids’ and teens’ clothing,” she said. “We will have everything from 0 months to plus sizes. The salon will continue to carry high-end hair products and soon we will be renovating the basement for space for a nail tech.”

In addition to Neill’s Army service, she has an associate degree in medical assisting and a bachelor’s degree in health service administration. Neill left her full-time job in January.

Through the purchase process, she has used the services of the Michigan Small Business Development Center.

“They have been miraculously amazing to me,” she said. “I work with Dave at the SBDC; he’s my go to guy if I get lost on something.”

Neill cites a lot of soul work in her life the past year. With focus on her family, working a 9-to-5 just doesn’t work for Neill anymore.

“A lot of stuff has come to light, and I really just want happiness with me. A positive place to be.

“I wanted to give Harrison some options for children’s clothing. If you need a quick outfit, stop in or if you want to shop, I’ll be here too.”

Neill has heard a lot of frustrations from parents that modest girls’ clothing is hard to find.

A website will be coming soon for online sales.

The boutique also carries accessories, and Neill made a photo backdrop for trying on clothes for the grand opening Thursday, Nov. 3.

Neill also brings to the boutique her handmade jewelry. Earrings made from deer antlers are a unique item that came about after Bristol taught Neill how to wire wrap – something he’s familiar with as an electrician.
