Let's Talk Elections!

Posted

I know you must be wondering if the polling locations will be open for the August 4, 2020 and November 3, 2020 Elections. The answer is YES! The Bureau of Elections will be assisting the local jurisdictions in providing personal protective equipment for both elections. You have probably heard that the Secretary of State is mailing out absent voter applications to all Michigan registered voters. The Secretary of State is doing that. However, you are NOT required to vote by absentee ballot. You are not required to return that application. If you would like to vote by absentee ballot, please return the application to your local clerk. If you are having difficulty getting it to your local clerk, you may also return it to my office and I will forward it to your local clerk (Clare County Clerk, P.O. Box 438, Harrison, MI 48625).

If you have received an absent ballot application for someone who no longer lives there, we would appreciate it if you would forward that application to my office or your local clerk with an explanation, such as “moved” or “deceased.” This will help to clean up the qualified voter files.

Elections will be held in your normal polling place. I have also placed sample ballots on my website (www.clareco.net/elections) for your review prior to the election. If you have any additional questions, please call my office 989-539-7131.
