Farwell Man Arraigned After Shots Fired in Lincoln Township

UPDATE ON LINCOLN TOWNSHIP INCIDENT

On 5/17/21 Edwin Perkins was charged by the Clare County Prosecutor’s Office with: Weapons-Firearms Discharge In Or At A Building; Weapons-Felony Firearm; Weapons-Firearms Discharge From Vehicle; 2 counts of Felony Firearm; Malicious Destruction of Property; Possession of Meth; Habitual Offender – 4th.

He was arraigned in 80th District Court by Magistrate Steven Worpell. Bond was set at $100,000 cash. He remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.

On 05/16/21 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Deputies responded to the area of Finley Lake  and Cedar in Lincoln Township for a report of a male subject shooting a rifle at a residence. The residence was occupied and there were no injuries.
 
Upon arrival Deputies discovered signs of bullet holes in the home and vehicles parked within the driveway. Through investigation Deputies located the suspect vehicle in the area at the suspect’s residence. It was reported that he ran into the woods with the rifle.
The suspect, a 45 year old Farwell man, is a neighbor to where the incident occurred.
 
An arrest warrant and search warrant were obtained and the suspect was located in the woods by the Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Task Force and taken into custody without incident. He was lodged in the Clare County Jail and is pending arraignment.
 
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Task Force, the Clare City Police, the Michigan State Police – Mt. Pleasant Post, the Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division, Lincoln Township Fire and Rescue, and Mobile Medical
Response Ambulance Service.
