Evart Man Arraigned on Multiple Charges

On 01/26/2022, 26-year-old Brandon Thomas Sayles of Evart was arraigned in 80th District Court by magistrate Worpell on the charges of Weapons – possess by Felon / Felonious Assault / Police Officer fleeing 4th / Police Officer – Resist & Obstruct / No Security / Malicious Destruction of Property / Unregistered Vehicle / Throwing Objects, set forth by Clare County Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis. Bond was set at $130,000 Cash/Surety, 10 %. Sayles remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.

On 01/23/2022, at approximately 13:30 p.m., Clare County Deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of West Jefferson, in Lincoln Township, Clare County Michigan.  The female caller advised that a male was at the residence and broke out a window on the house using an axe.  The caller was able to give a description of the male along with the vehicle he was driving and stated the male left and was believed to be headed to the Silver Lake Subdivision area in Lincoln Township.

Responding Deputies located the vehicle at a residence in the Silver Lake Subdivision, with the male standing near the vehicle.  Deputies activated their lights and sirens in attempt to stop the male and speak with him.  At that time the male got into the vehicle and began fleeing from Deputies.

While fleeing from Deputies the male began throwing objects out of the vehicle and towards the patrol vehicle.  The pursuit went on for approximately 10 miles until the male got of the vehicle and fled on foot.  Deputies were able to apprehend the 26-year-old male from Evart and place him in custody.  He was transported to the Clare County Jail and lodged awaiting arraignment in the 80th District Court. Clare County Deputies were assisted at the scene by  Michigan Department of Natural Resource Officers.
