Duane Edgar Hoeft died on November 6, 2021, at the age of 91.  Duane was born on July 1, 1930 in Hawks, MI to Albert and Irene Hoeft.  Duane was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 – 1953.  Duane worked for the state of Michigan as a food inspector, a machine operator and retired from Clare County as Equalization Director in 1992.  Duane was happiest, however, when he was “playing in the dirt”.  He loved working outside.  Duane was very proud of his Harrison ponds that he stocked with fish.  Duane loved playing and watching sports – especially Michigan State.

Duane is survived by 5 children Elly Smyczynski (Tom), Mike Hoeft (Collette), Carl Hoeft (Caren), John Hoeft and Sue Hoeft, 2 step children Cristie Brown and Kim Frank (Chris) plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and his sister, Rita Selke.  He was preceded in death by Mary Anna Hoeft, Beverly Hoeft and his sister Jewel Stanley.

Family will receive friends at Stocking Funeral Home in Harrison on Saturday, December 11 from 10 – 11 am.  A public memorial service will be held at Stocking Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Francis B. Koper officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Gladwin or Compassus Hospice.
