Doris Mae Higgins 90 of rural Harrison passed away peacefully Monday, January 13, 2020 at North Woods Nursing Center, Farwell. Doris was born December 10, 1929 in Harrison, the daughter of Miles Robert Henry and Irene Louise (Blain) Henry. On June 7, 1952, Doris was united in marriage to Mr. Francis “Pinky” Higgins in Angola, Indiana. Mr. Higgins preceded Doris in death on December 2, 2003 after fifty-one years of marriage.

                Mrs. Higgins had resided in Clare County her entire life. Doris retired from Harrison Do it Best Lumber after many years of employment. She enjoyed knitting, vegetable gardening, playing Bingo, reading mystery novels and most fondly, spending time with her grandchildren.

                Surviving Doris are her four children; Sally Agler of Sears, Michigan, Marilyn Allen-Logic also of Sears, David Higgins of rural Harrison and Delton “Jim” Higgins and wife Sue of rural Harrison, twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two sisters; Audrey Pardue of Harrison and Judy Curns of Lake George, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Higgins also was preceded in death by her parents, her infant twin daughters, Rebecca and Roberta, one son, Tim Higgins, two son in-laws; Pat Logic and Tunk Alger, one granddaughter, Donnae, one great-grandson, Caleb, two sisters; Helen Litwiller and Velma Pitchford and four brothers; Bill Henry, Dick Henry, Don Henry and Fudd Henry.

                Graveside inurnment services for Mrs. Higgins will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
