Deadwood Grove Haunts Again!

The Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest and Manic Maze will be open 7pm-10pm on the last three Fridays and Saturdays in October—October 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26.

Tickets are available at the event and cost $5 for those 12 and under, and $10 adults. A super scary ticket deal is also being offered—attendees can purchase a $15 ticket that includes entry into BOTH the Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest on the Harrison Campus and the Deadwood Grove Manic Maze on Mid’s Mt. Pleasant Campus.

Mid Michigan College’s Harrison Campus offers nearly 20 miles of trails for hiking and mountain bike enthusiasts to enjoy. The trail system is open to the public, and is also used for organized athletic events throughout the year.

But, in October, the trails offer community members and guests from all over Michigan something very different—because on six evenings, Mid’s trails become haunted!

The Haunted Forest is designed and staffed by students who are members of Mid’s Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society for two-year college students.

“This year the students also decided to create a manic maze within the Morey Technical Education Center on Mid’s Mt. Pleasant Campus,” explained Tammy Alvaro, Director of Student Advancement and PTK Advisor at Mid. “We’re excited to offer this new feature to our guests and expand Deadwood Grove to both of the local communities that the College serves.”

Deadwood Grove raises funds for service learning projects and leadership development experiences completed by Mid's Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

“Deadwood Grove is a spooky event orchestrated by more than 40 student volunteers who help to make the haunted trail and manic maze safe for a freakishly fun night,” noted Alvaro. “It's great to see community members come out and enjoy something that we plan for several months in advance, and we hope this year is more fun than ever.”
