Deadwood Grove Haunts Again!

The Mid Michigan College Harrison campus offers nearly 20 miles of trails for hiking and mountain bike enthusiasts to enjoy. The trail system is open to the public and is also used for organized athletic events throughout the year. But, in October, the trails offer community members and guests from all over Michigan something very different – because on six evenings, Mid’s trails become haunted!

The Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest is designed and staffed by students who are members of Mid’s Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society for two-year college students. The event is also sponsored by the Mid Michigan College Foundation.

“This is the 10th year of Deadwood Grove,” shared Tammy Alvaro, Director of Student Advancement at Mid and PTK Advisor. “We’re so excited to celebrate ten years of fears and fun with everyone!”

The Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest will be open 7-10 p.m. the last three Fridays and Saturdays in October: Oct. 14-15, 21-22, and 28-29.

Tickets are available online at midmich.edu/deadwood or at the event and cost $5 for those 12 and under, and $10 adults.

This event raises funds for service learning projects and leadership development experiences for Mid's Phi Theta Kappa students.

“Deadwood Grove is a spooky event orchestrated by more than 40 student volunteers who help to make the haunted trail a safe, fun night,” noted Alvaro. “It's great to see community members come out and enjoy something that we plan for several months in advance, and we hope this year is more fun than ever.”
