DAR of Michigan, State Regent Dawn Brady was the esteemed guest of Michilimacinac Chapter DAR in Clare on June 2, 2025. During the meeting, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the United States Army, Chapter Regent Karen Eckardt read a proclamation declaring June 14, 2025, as United States Army Day.
On June 14, 1775, the Second Continental Congress adopted the New England Army of Observation, making it a “continental” army – a united fighting force – that represented all 13 colonies. The Continental Army became America’s first national institution.
The Second Continental Congress, at this time, also established the Infantry branch, making it the oldest branch of the Army.
