Daniel (Dan) James McLearen 66 of Harrison passed away Saturday August 24th at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit surrounded by loved ones. This was after recently being diagnosed with lung cancer. Dan was born in Detroit (Hamtramck) on November 18, 1952 to Clarence & Jenny (Typinski) McLearen.
Their family moved to Mt. Clemens when Dan was 11 yrs old. He graduated from L.'anse Creuse High school. After retiring from Ford motor company in 2003 he moved to Leota to 'live the good life'. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, trail riding & working with wood. He liked music of all types but especially country. Volunteering was a big part of his life. He worked with the Lions Club for many years as well as the Special Olympics. He was instrumental in bringing the Wertz Warriors to Leota as one of the stops on their ride to the MI Winter Special Olympic Games. He was a Den Leader with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion (AVVA) & the John J. Carton #436 Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Harrison Moose where he served many years.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Janica McLearen of Harrison, daughters Kelly McLearen of Macomb and Heather(McLearen) Murphy of Mt. Clemens, son Aaron McLearen of Harrison, stepson James Russell of Warren, stepdaughter Angela Damer of Tampa Fl, granddaughter Kaycie 7 of Harrison, step granddaughter Aurora 2 of Warren as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
Life Celebration services for Dan will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Harrison Moose Lodge and Family Center #2235, 5185 North Clare Avenue, Harrison.
Graveside services for Daniel were held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from Summerfield Township Cemetery, Harrison with Pastor Jerry Britton officiating.
