Crash in Surrey Twp Takes One Life

On 04/02/20 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of a 3 vehicle traffic crash on Maple Grove west of Ludington in Surrey Township.

Deputies discovered that a brown colored 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 41 year old female of Lake, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and sideswiped a black GMC Sierra pickup, driven by a 64 year old male of Farwell, that was traveling westbound. The Malibu then collided head on with a burgundy 2000 Ford Econoline van, driven by a 54 year old male of Warren.

The driver and passenger occupying the truck were uninjured. The driver of the van and two passengers were transported to Midland Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was flown to Midland Hospital by air ambulance. She later passed away from her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Clare County Traffic Crash Investigation Unit. Names are being withheld pending additional family notification.
