Consumers Energy Tree Grant Awarded to City of Clare

The City of Clare has again been awarded a $3,000 Consumers Energy Forestry Operations tree grant for 15 trees to be planted along the city’s right of way.

The trees were purchased from Elm Creek in Farwell and were all maples: Red Summit, October Glory, Autumn Blaze and Drumonodi.

We had some residents request trees this year and if location matched Consumers requirements we did our best to plant trees there. Water/Sewer lines and overhead lines limit some areas from tree planting.

Each year Consumers Energy Co.-Forestry Operations provides funds to assist local municipalities with tree planting projects that focus on appropriate selection of tree species and planting locations on lands open to the public. Consumers Energy sponsors the program annually to encourage responsible tree planting and sustainable urban forest in communities across the state.
