Clare Man Pleads Guilty to GPS Device Tampering

Richard Hunter Thompson, of Clare, Michigan, plead guilty on August 3, 2020, to tampering with an electronic monitoring device as a habitual third offender. Thompson had been placed on GPS tether as part of his parole conditions. He tampered with the device and absconded. He was sentenced to prison by Judge Evans on September 8, 2020, as follows: 14 months to 4 years, no credit for time served to date because he was on parole at the time, and he was ordered to pay approximately $2,400.00 in fines, costs, court appointed attorney fees, and restitution for the device
