Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Osceola County 4-H programs host Virtual Showcase

Harrison, MI— With local fairs cancelling due to COVID-19, Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Osceola County 4-H programs wanted the 4-H youth to have an opportunity to exhibit their projects. The 4-H staff from the four counties have teamed up to create the Middle of the Mitt 4-H Virtual Showcase which will run from July 25 thru July 31.

This opportunity gives youth the chance to virtually exhibit their projects by uploading photos and or videos, along with a written description of their project. Classes that were offered to youth include showmanship for all animal species which include dairy, beef, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, rabbits, horses, dogs and cats. Breeding classes were also offered for breeding animals, plus classes such as obedience and agility for dogs, and trail and horsemanship for horses. Youth were also asked to complete a record book for their animal project so that judges can see how their animals were cared for and what costs they accrued from the project. The virtual showcase also allows youth to exhibit their still exhibit projects which can consist of art, photography, agriculture, antiques, science, and more. Youth participating in the Middle of the Mitt 4-H Virtual Showcase have entered projects in still exhibits, swine, beef, goats, poultry, and rabbits.

Youth’s projects will be judged virtually during the week of July 27 and they will be awarded virtual ribbons for their projects. The 4-H staff committee created a Facebook page where exhibitors and their projects will be recognized during the week of July 27.
