Clare baseball gets well played road sweep over Pinconning

After rain washed out their Jacke Pine Conference doubleheader two days earlier, Clare went to Pinconning for the make up games on Saturday. The Pioneers were able to come away with two big victories, 7-1 and 3-2.

In the opener, Clare was able to score three runs in the top of the second and they tacked on two more in both the third and fourth innings to build a 7-0 lead, and they kept the Spartans from mounting a rally I their final at bats.

Dane Alexander threw well to get the win, he went six innings and gave up zero runs on three hits, seven strikeouts and four walks. Brody Allen threw the final inning and allowed one run on one hit and one walk.

Ryan Louch had a couple of big hits on offense, getting one home run, one triple, one RBI and one run. Alexander and Tustyn Yarger both had two hits and one RBI and Blake Sian had one double, one RBI and one run. Chase Randall was good for two hits and he came around two score twice and getting one hit each was Jayden Arthur, Matt Mast and Cole Drake (one RBI).

Game two was deadlocked 2-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, where Clare was able to send across the game winning run.

Sian got the win, he went all seven innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits, 11 strikeouts and two walks.

Louch had one double, one single and two RBI in the game, Arthur had one hit and he drove in a run and Alexander singled and reached twice on walks. Mast managed one single and Porter Harsh got on twice on walks.

Clare was also at Bullock Creek on Tuesday, April 29, where they came up with two more JPC wins, 10-3 and 6-5.

Arthur got the win on the mound in game one, throwing the first five innings and giving up zero runs on two hits, three strikeouts and four walks. Lincoln Older and Smith combined relief efforts to finish the game off.

Sian had three singles and one RBI to lead the offense. Louch had one double, one single, two walks and one RBI and Arthur added two hits and one RBI. Adding one hit each was Alexander (three runs), Randall, Yarger (one RBI), Mast, Older (one RBI) and Harsh.

In game two, Sian was the winner in relief; he threw the last inning and didn’t allow a run and struck out two batters. Randall struck out five batters and Smith saw time on the mound as well, striking out two.

Sian had three hits and two RBI, Randall had one single and one RBI and adding one single each was Arthur, Mast and Smith. Clare won the game on a walk-off thanks to a run-scoring error.

Clare played at Beaverton on Tuesday, will return home to play Ogemaw Heights today (Thursday), they’ll also host Harrison this coming Tuesday and on Thursday, May 15 it will be a home date with Meridian.
