Clare and Harrison Bowlers Headed to State Competition

Posted

Clare Bowling Varsity Girls placed second in regionals in Gaylord on Friday, Feb.25 and will compete at the state level on Friday, March 4 in Jackson. Sofiah Coker is a senior with four years on the bowling team and has gone to state competition all but one year. Lexi Coker has bowled for three years and went to state competition all but one year. Sofiah had to throw a strike in the 10th frame of the sixth and last game to tie her sister which she succeeded in doing, making the sisters co-champions (No. 1 of 84 bowlers) at regionals. Both Coker sisters are headed to state competition Saturday for singles, and the rest of the team will bowl on Friday in Jackson.

“I could not have been prouder of all of them.” said coach Kelli Dingo. “And my boys made me just as proud because they all stayed and cheered the girls on. I will miss my seniors Sofie, Natalie, and Bailey. I can’t wait to see what they give me this weekend.”

Jaynie Hamilton of Harrison also will compete on Saturday. At regionals, Hamilton finished 9th out of 84 girls.
