CHARLES A. DAVIS

Charles A Davis, Jr (Charlie) passed away peacefully June 7, 2020 of natural causes.  He was 94 years old.  Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria (2012) and his granddaughter, Jennifer (2017).   Charles and Gloria were married 67 years.  Charlie has been a lifelong resident of Michigan.   

Charlie served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Redwood, a net tender in the Caribbean.  After discharge from the Navy, he attended the Detroit School of Business and received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  After retirement Charlie was active in many volunteer activities (American Legion, Honor Guard, Senior Olympics, St Clair County Senior Citizens, Salvation Army bell ringer and Coffee Break for holiday travelers). 

The last 5 years Charlie lived at the Brook in Gladwin, where he was awarded “Teller of the Worst Jokes”.  Charlies was kind to all he met and had a contagious smile.  He loved to sing although always off key.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Carla & her husband, John Terrill; 2 grandchildren:  Yvonne Hummel (Steve) and Scott Terrill; his 5 great-grandchildren: Brandon (Katie), Christina, (Kevin), Kaitlyn, Trent (Jordanna) and Samantha; as well as his 8 great-great grandchildren:  Jacob, Gage, Jett, Everleigh, Jace, Kelseigh, Willow and Luca and his sister, Maxine Holland of Arizona.

The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Brook and those at Compassus Hospice for the care and friendship they provided to Charlie and his family.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Stocking Funeral Home in Harrison, MI.
