Posted

Alexys Carlstrom, a Harrison High School graduate and Mid Michigan College student-athlete, has been named this season's first MCCAA (Michigan Community College Athletic Association) Western Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Carlstrom had 21 points, three steals, and a rebound in the Lakers five-point loss to Delta College on Wednesday, Nov.3 at Morey Courts in Mount Pleasant.

“We’re glad to see that Alexys’ strong performance was recognized by the MCCAA,” noted Ryan Harkrader, Mid Michigan College athletic director. “This is a well-deserved honor and I’m confident that we’ll see more stellar performances from her as the season continues.”

Mid Michigan College competes in the MCCAA against other community colleges for conference and State championships. The Lakers also compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association for national tournaments. Mid currently fields six varsity teams in the following sports: men's basketball, women's basketball, men's and women's bowling, baseball, and softball.
