The Farwell boys basketball team showed some definite signs of progress in their home Jack Pine Conference game with Beaverton on Friday. The Eagles did suffer a loss, but they scored a season high in points, in the 70-45 contest.
In the first quarter, Wyatt VanBuskirk hit two three pointers. Those were the only two field-goals the Eagles had in the frame though, and they were behind 23-8 after one.
Mason Esterline hit for four points in the second, while Dylan Mitchell hit a three and Walker Brown sank one from the floor as well; but their deficit was 46-18 at the half.
In the third, Rylee Sprague had four points and Esterline had an and-one play, but they weren’t able to get closer, as both teams netted 10 points in the frame and it was 56-38 entering the fourth.
Esterline scored seven more points in the final quarter and he finished with 15 on the night. Brown hit two threes as part of his 10 point fourth quarter, and he was able to contribute 12 points at the endo of the contest. VanBuskirk finished with seven points, Sprague added four, Mitchell netted three and with two apiece was Seth Burkhart and Asher Yarhouse.
Farwell (0-17 overall, 0-11 JPC) hosted Genessee for non-league game on Monday, played at Harrison on Tuesday, hosts Gladwin today (Thursday) and will play in their JPC crossover game on Tuesday.
