With over 5,000 books sold in Michigan alone, previous resident of Clare County, Paul Headworth, met with the Cleaver about his recent book “Prophetic Redemption.” Headworth’s book was released on March 24, 2024. It is a rewrite that polishes and extends the story of his previous book “Fallen Prayer.” Headworth now lives in Florida during his retirement with frequent trips to Michigan.
“Prophetic Redemption” is a fictional Christian and suspense novel that takes place in Clare County. It follows Paul Bennett who is part of the Clare County Police Department, Paul must uncover the murder of fellow officer and best friend Charlie Spence. Charlie was a large figure of police officers after he took down an entire drug ring single handed after his family was murdered. Given two clues that follow scripture and prayer from Charlie before his death, Paul must uncover the meaning behind Charlie’s message and dig deep into his past to find the culprit of Charlie and his family.
“Prophetic Redemption” is a book that may interest those who are looking for a suspenseful read. The book also appeals to a spiritual audience with quotes from the bible and strong influences of the Christian faith following love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and compassion. Whether or not you’re religious this book incorporates a lot of suspense and action to the story for those who enjoy suspense novels. The two genres combine well when Bennett follows the two clues Charlie left behind.
“One of the clues is scripture and the other is spiritual. It’s kind of a unique way to have an engaging murder mystery. As the world is getting darker and darker it’s good to provide entertainment with a positive message” said Headworth about his new book.
Paul Headworth is also a retired postmaster of Lake George, Coleman, and Tustin. He was inspired by the movie “Passion of the Christ” to write this book. Compared to the release of the original book, this one has been a new experience.
“I’m looking forward to being here and getting the word out. A lot of people who read the first one always wanted, when I did it the first five years, people asked is this the first one or will there be another?”
The book industry is always changing so releasing this new book was also a change for him and he had to adapt his ways.
“I thought I would be ahead of the game with everything set up from the first book, but it is now a completely different market.” Said Headworth.
Publishing a book has become much easier in the modern day and age, but working to become a well-known author is another story. Selling a book has moved to promoting yourself, connecting with your readers, selling your book and your identity to those who are interested in your story. Headworth hopes to get word out about his book as much as possible with his rewrite. With his first book, Fallen Prayer, Headworth was a self-publisher and got word out by going to conventions, presentations, and an interview with 9&10 news. Headworth is still a self-publisher but has Xulon Press helping with selling his books at popular bookstores.
“I’m going to wait to see how this book does first and then decide if I want to write another” Said Headworth to the question if he may write another book.
Headworth will be at the Harrison Street Fair August 23 and 24 at the Yoder’s Amish Flea Market & Craft Show on August 30 in Clare. You can also learn more about Headworth and his book at Propheticredemption.com. You can read his book online through Kindle or order his book through his website, Books-A-Million, or Barnes & Noble.
Headworth hopes for more people to hear about his book and to learn the many positive messages it has to make the world a better place.
