ARTHUR “ART” JAMES WALTER SR.

                Arthur “Art” James Walter Sr. age 88 of Harrison passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Arthur was born April 13, 1934 in Flushing, Michigan the son of Howard Walter and Edith (Plamondon) Walter. Mr. Walter enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Art was united in marriage to Ms. LaVonne Mary LaRock on March 26, 1955 in Flushing.

                Mr. Walter retired from General Motors Corporation after thirty years as a forklift operator. Art became a full-time resident of Harrison in 1986, moving from Flint, Michigan. Mr. Walter was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1075 of Harrison. He was an avid woodworker and woodcrafter, fisherman. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, episodes from Hee Haw and reading Louis L’Amour short stories and novels. Art’s family will fondly remember him for his famous pancakes, and family camping trips to Hartwick Pines.

                Surviving Mr. Walter is his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Mrs. LaVonne Mary Walter of Harrison, five children; Arthur J. Walter Jr. and wife Nancy of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Theresa LaFeir of Harrison, Sandra Miller of Onaway, Michigan, Michael J. Walter of Harrison and Judy Ann Harris and husband Gregory of Morgantown, Kentucky, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Ruth Anne Walter, one son, David Walter, one son-in-law, Carl Miller, five sisters; Edith, Alice, Esther, Lillian and Phyllis, and six brothers; Alfred, Ervin, Albert, Jerry, Earl and Howard.

                Graveside services and Military Honors for Mr. Walter will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris, Michigan.
