Annual Harrison-Leota Snowriders Event Brings Joy

Posted

On Friday, Feb. 28 the weather was cold and windy for the Snowriders Annual Snowmobile Rides for the Gladwin and Clare RESD special needs children, but this did not interrupt the joy for everyone involved in this annual event. It was the 32nd year the Snowriders have been giving rides.

With the help of five club members providing the sleds and sleighs, they were able to give the happy kids and teachers rides around the school property.  Lots of smiles and squeals were abundant during and after the rides.

The Snowriders also furnished chocolate snowmobile treats for the entire school, including the teachers who do a marvelous job getting the kids ready before, during and after the rides. This is a very joyful event not only for the kids but also for the club.

A hearty thanks to club members Jack McNutt, Kay McBrien and Dan Sullivan for not only sharing their equipment, but also to Gary Akin, Dan Sullivan, Gary and Betty Randall who gave the kids the rides they so much enjoyed.  Thanks also to Ken and Geri Hills who organize this annual event for our special children.

Respectfully submitted by Geri Hills, events chairperson
