ALMA LEOTA JESSE

Alma Leota Jesse 90 of Harrison has left this world on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 to become an Angel in Heaven. She is now experiencing the everlasting Glory of God. Alma was born on April 2, 1929 in rural Clare County, Michigan the daughter of Walter and Lula (Adelblue) Ehle. Alma graduated from Harrison High School in 1946. In the fall of 1946, she began her first official job working for Harrison Community Schools as a secretary. In 1948, Alma went to work for the Agricultural Extension Office, and stayed there until for a few years. Alma was united in marriage to Mr. Francis “Fran” Clifford Jesse on April 16, 1949 in Gladwin, Michigan. After the birth of her daughter Jeri, Alma began her long career with Clare County Department of Social Services in 1962, she remained there until her retirement in 1989 after thirty-two years of service ending her career as office manager.

                Mrs. Jesse was a long-time member and past Sunday School Teacher of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Harrison. Alma volunteered many years at Clare Hospital, Clare, helping many patients and family members. She was a former member and attendee of Harrison TOPS Club Inc. Alma enjoyed golfing, bowling, summer camping trips, baking, cooking, gardening and canning, taking drives around the community, socializing with her family, friends and fellow diners at the Jackpine Restaurant of Harrison. Her greatest passion throughout the years was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

                Surviving Alma is her loving daughter and best friend, Jeri Bushong and husband Ron of Harrison, two grandchildren; Beth Wood and husband Ken of Holland, Michigan and Jeron Bushong and wife Nikki of Grand Ledge, Michigan, her four great-grandchildren; Olivia Corlew, Cassidy Corlew, Kylee Bushong and Logan Bushong, two brothers; Alfred Ehle and wife Frieda of Gladwin and Roger Ehle and wife Patsy of Harrison, many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. Alma was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Mr. Francis “Fran” Jesse.

                Funeral services celebrating Alma will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Vaughn Peterson officiating. Visitation will take place Friday, October 4, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
