ALBERT THEODORE CARDY

                Albert Theodore Cardy 92 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Riverwind Senior Assisted Living, Williamston, Michigan. Albert was born March 19, 1929 in Bear Creek Township, Michigan the son of Lawrence Cardy and Esther (Pine) Cardy. Albert graduated high school in 1950 from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Immediately following graduation, Mr. Cardy enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Albert was united in marriage to Ms. Valerie N. Sims on May 3, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Cardy preceded Albert in death on April 7, 2001 after forty-two years of marriage.

                Mr. Cardy retired from General Motors Corporation-Oldsmobile Division in 1985 after thirty-one years of dedicated service. He moved to Harrison in 1985, following his retirement. Albert was a devote parishioner of St. Athanasius Catholic Church-Harrison. He enjoyed painting, wood carving, watching old western television shows, mowing his yard, landscaping and caring for his many floral gardens.

                Surviving Mr. Cardy is his son, John Cardy and wife Carol of Lansing, three grandchildren: Shaun Cardy of Lansing, Joshua Cardy and wife Megan also of Lansing and Sharon Swindlehurst, Godchild, Lori (Cardy) Kraus, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Cardy also was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Albert Edward Cardy, one daughter, Karen Swindlehurst, one sister, Vi, three brothers: Clifford Cardy, Art Cardy and Ralph Cardy and their wives.

                A Funeral Mass celebrating Albert will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 S. Broad Street, Harrison, with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Military honors will take place immediately following Albert’s Funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial gifts in memory of Mr. Cardy may be considered to the donor’s choice.
