Summer favorite since 1961 gets new owners

The course is decorated for the season at 4X Adventureland & X'Scape. They remain open weekends throughout October.

It was just by happenstance that the Sims family noticed 4X Adventureland was for sale when they visited the circus at the Clare County Fairgrounds.

Amanda Sims considers 4X Adventureland her 40^th birthday present. On June 9 they took over the business. In addition to Amanda, her husband, Brad, daughter, Arianna, and niece Angelina all run the business along with their manager Shannon.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted. I wanted go-carts, laser tag. Something fun like that.” said Amanda.

“We want to make a birthday party atmosphere. Maybe even staying open fall and winter for birthday parties. We are looking to add stuff here and here and spark it up a little bit.”

Brad and Amanda are not strangers to owning a business. They own three laundromats located in Clare, Gladwin and Harrison, storage units in Lake Isabella, and a Mr. Rooter franchise.

Their future plans for the fun business include bricking the guides on the putter golf course and putting in additional fun features on the course. The turf on the holes will be redone.

They also plan to stay open longer in the season and later at night during the summer offering glow golfing at night, complete with LED lit golf balls. The Sims also plan to utilize their property by making a laser tag course. New arcade games were added this summer and new some new go-karts are planned for next summer.

The fun is extended this year and the business will remain open weekends in October. The business will serve pizza, hot dogs, chips and cheese, pretzels and cheese, and instead of cold slushies they will have hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

They also partnered with local businesses to adopt and decorate putter golf holes in a fall or Halloween theme. Those participating businesses are Black Diamond Broadcasting, Clare County Cleaver, Hometown Laundry, Longer Table and Mr. Rooter – check out their decorated putter courses.

The last day of their season will be Monday, Oct. 31 for trick or treating, golfing, games and FUN!
