Wilbert Charles Smith Sr., age 80 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Wilbert was born December 8, 1943, in Memphis, Michigan, the son of Charles Roland Smith and Elizabeth Anna Carlina (Barc) Smith. Mr. Smith had resided in Harrison since 1979, moving from Port Huron, Michigan. Wilbert was united in marriage to Ms. Dianna Lynn Hanchett on June 4, 1994, in Harrison.

Mr. Smith attended The Gathering United Methodist Church of Harrison for many years, was a past member of: Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3541 of Harrison and Harrison Moose Lodge and Family Center #2235. Wilbert was a talented woodworker, creating many crafted keepsakes for his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching old western movies and television shows, and playing computer and phone games.

Surviving Wilbert is his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Mrs. Dianna Lynn Smith of Harrison, five children: Wilbert “Bert” Charles Smith and wife Melissa of Palm Bay, Florida, Genine Marie Hayward and husband David of Port Huron, Lisa Virginia Smith also of Port Huron, Wayne Henschel and wife Pam of Harrison and April Ann Price of Kansas, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, plus many extended family members. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, three sons; Tony Smith, Troy Benjamin, and Michael Smith, one grandson, Jordan Hayward, one granddaughter, Jessica Smith, three sisters; Carol, Ida, and Alice and six brothers; Herman Smith Sr., Jim, Eldon, Dave, Don, and Jackie.

Celebration of Life services honoring Mr. Smith will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. from The Gathering United Methodist Church of Harrison, 3090 North Clare Avenue, Harrison, Michigan 48625, with Pastor Raymond McClintic officiating. A time of gathering will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will follow in Summerfield Township Cemetery. Memorial gifts in memory of Wilbert may be considered to the Smith family, in care of: Dianna L. Smith.
