JOHN FRANK HORVAT

   John Frank Horvat, age 74, of Harrison, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at his home in Harrison. He was born the son of Martin and Frances (Bozich) Horvat on May 25, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. He was united in marriage to the former Marilyn L. Santo on November 9, 1957 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. John had worked as a process engineer for the Ford Motor Company for many years and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. During his lifetime, John was affiliated with the following service organizations: Life Member of the Harrison V.F.W. Post #1075, Harrison American Legion Post #404, Life Member of the John J. Carton Masonic Lodge #436, a past "Keystone Kop" with the Detroit Shriners, Life Member of the Harrison Antique Tractor Club, Harrison Eagles Aerie #5441 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235. He was also noted as being a member of the "No Questions Asked Club." John had lived in the Harrison area since 1985 where he had moved from Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
   He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Harrison; his two sons, Martin J. Horvat of Harrison and John Frank (Daphne) Horvat, Jr. of Livonia, Michigan; his two daughters, Frances M. Horvat of Westland, Michigan and Linda E. Gutzki and fiancee Ron Ream of Cedar Springs, Michigan; his brother, Rudolph Horvat of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and his seven grandchildren: Jennifer L Gutzki, Angel Beck, D.J. Gutzki, Sarah J. Ream, Jacquelyn F. Horvat, Maria Horvat, and John F. Horvat III, his daughter-in-law, Candee Horvat of Huntsville, Alabama; He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Horvat, Bozich, Kumor, and Santo families and not to mention... many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
   Funeral services took place on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. at the Stocking Funeral Home with Elder Dale Beaver officiating. Burial followed in the Hayes Twp. Cemetery in Harrison. EOLA RUTH BURNS

Eola Ruth Burns, 82 years old of Lake Villa, IL passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. She was born July 8, 1925 in Clare, Michigan the daughter of the late Earl and Bertie (Leeth) Phinisey. Eola lived in Antioch, IL from 1961 until 1969 when she moved to California and then in 1992 she moved to Lake Villa. Eola was a home maker and had also worked for Montgomery Wards in purchasing and inventory. Her interests included sewing, oil and water painting and wall papering. On June 23, 1946 she married Robert L. Burns in Clare, Michigan and he preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2002.
Survivors are her son William (Laura) Burns of Lake Villa and her daughter Glenna (Bill) Sheldon of Naperville, IL, one sister Patricia Bergstrom and two granddaughters, Karen (Brian) Storrie and Jennifer Sheldon. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Robinette and Harriet Munn and by her step mother, Eunice Phinisey.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison, Michigan. Stocking Funeral Home is assisting the family in Harrison, MI. DONALD L. WALKER

   Donald L. "Deno" Walker 60 of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, September 26th , 2007 at his home. Mr. Walker was born September 3, 1947 in Bay City, Michigan, the son of James and Genevieve (Vincent) Walker. Donald was united in marriage to Linda Warner on August 22, 1970 in Cass City, Michigan.
   Donald had resided in Harrison since 1975, coming from Kingston, Michigan. Mr. Walker had a great passion for bow hunting. Donald enjoyed camping, woodworking, especially crafting bird houses and furniture.
Surviving is his loving wife, Linda Walker of Harrison, one daughter, Penny L. Kandaris of Harrison, one brother, Michael Walker of Deckerville, Michigan, two sisters: Tonya Newsome and husband Lloyd of Cass City, Michigan and Jeanette Geno and husband Michael of Port Huron, Michigan, one granddaughter, Rhiannon Kandaris, one adopted daughter, Anna Guareno of Harrison, two adopted grandchildren: Ryan Nance and Sophia Sleight, his beloved dogs: Lefty and Rosie. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents.
   Celebration of life memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. from the V.F.W. Post 1075 of Harrison. BARRY LEE MURPHY

   Barry Lee Murphy, of Harrison - formerly of Lansing, MI, age 58, died September 27, 2007; born May 19, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Mr. Murphy was a carpenter and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Rolla (RJ) Murphy; mother, Aletha Bullard-Kelly; stepfather, George Thomas Kelley aka (Red). Surviving are 2 brothers, Denis (Terri) Murphy of Mt. Pleasant and Jack (Toni) Murphy of Lansing; sister, Vickey Duran of Lansing; step-sisters, Dee and Val Kelley; significant other, Bonnie Blemaster Baese; 6 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 13, 1pm at 3715 South Genuine Road, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 @ Denis Murphy’s residence. The family is being served by the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing, MI.
