RUTH ANN SHUNK

   Ruth Ann Shunk 70 of Harrison passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac, Michigan. Ruth was born March 12, 1937 in Lapeer, Michigan, the daughter of Earl and Minnie "Alice" (Johnson) Hunt. Ruth was united in marriage to John "Jack" Shunk on December 17, 1966 in Farwell, Michigan. Mr. Shunk preceded Ruth in death on April 21, 1991. Mrs. Shunk had resided in Harrison since 1971, coming from Alma, Michigan.
   Ruth was the owner and operator of J&R Distributing for many years, where she was responsible for distributing sports magazines and maps for Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula.
  Surviving is her daughter, Janelle Blackburn and husband Alan of Cadillac, one son, Frederick Thiemke and wife Sharon of Caro, Michigan, two brothers: William Hunt and wife Glenda of Caro and Robert Hunt of Texas, two sisters: Lois Sutton and husband Richard of Caro and Sally Seeyle and husband Dale of Harrison, five grandchildren: Jonathon Blackburn and wife Angela of McBain, Michigan, Robert Blackburn and wife Kelly of Cadillac, Kelly Levely and wife Jennifer of Gladstone, Michigan, Troy Levely and wife Kathy of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Bridgette Thiemke of Caro, three great-grandchildren: Jadyn and Adriana Blackburn and Mason Levely, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shunk also was preceded in death by her father, Earl Hunt, her mother, Minnie "Alice" Hunt-Richmond, her step-father, James Richmond, one grandson, Christopher Blackburn and one sister, Shirley Best.
   Celebration of Life services were held Monday, November 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Chris Moon officiating. Burial is in Fernwood Cemetery, Temple, Michigan. DAVID LEE GOSSETT

   David Lee Gossett 60 of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center-Saginaw, Michigan. Mr. Gossett was born November 26, 1946 in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Charles E. Gossett Jr. and Reba F. (Farmer) Gossett. Mr. Gossett served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. David had resided in Harrison since 1982, coming from Taylor, Michigan.
   Surviving are two sons: Charles Gossett and wife Christina of Newport News, Virginia and David Gossett and wife Shana of Roseville, Michigan, two daughters: Tera Gossett and husband David Gorski of Detroit, Michigan and Pamela Gossett also of Detroit, one brother, Charles Daniel Gossett of Kentucky, one sister, Sharlene E. Reseigh and husband Ralph of Lapeer, Michigan, nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friends, James and Sandra Norton of Harrison. Mr. Gossett was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Gossett.
   Celebration of Life Memorial services were held Monday, November 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Elder Dale Beavers officiating. Military honors were held under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post 1075 of Harrison. Inurnment was in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison. ROBERT ANTHONY BAUKUS

   Robert "Bob" Anthony Baukus 76 of Harrison passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at his home after a long illness. Robert was born March 13, 1931 in Big Beaver, Michigan, the son of Edward and Katherine (Sears) Baukus. Bob had resided in Harrison since 1962, coming from Clawson, Michigan. Bob was united in marriage to the former Diana R. Lucas on March 5, 1971 in Harrison.
   Bob attended Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan and graduated from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan, with a Bachelor degree in teaching. Bob was a member of the John J. Carton Masonic Lodge #436 of Harrison. Mr. Baukus was co-owner of Baukus-Yankee Builders of Harrison for ten years. He taught building trades at Mid Michigan Community College for fifteen years and also worked for Mann Construction of Harrison for six years. Bob enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
   Surviving is his loving wife, Diana R. Baukus of Harrison, one son, Brian Baukus also of Harrison, three daughters: Karen Baukus and husband Dennis Weisheim of Harrison, Lori Baukus of Crystal Falls, Michigan and Kimberly Blain and husband Jason of Harrison, one sister, Nancy Tasker and husband Richard of Prescott, Arizona, five grandchildren: Jason Trowbridge, Jamie Trowbridge, Erin Baukus, Brooklyn Blain and Jason Blain, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
   Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from Community of Christ Church, Harrison with Elder Dale Beavers officiating. MARSHALL OSCAR HANDY

   Marshall "Ick" Oscar Handy 76 of Clare, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Handy was born March 14, 1931 in Charlevoix, Michigan, the son of Milo and Sylvia (Dell) Handy. Ick served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Ick was united in marriage to the former Marion Hardman on February 16, 1952.
   Mr. Handy moved to Harrison in 1962, coming from Flushing, Michigan. In 2004 he moved to Clare. Ick was a member of the American Legion Post 404 of Harrison.
   Surviving is his loving wife, Marion Handy of Clare, one son, Jeffrey Handy of Bay Shore, Michigan, three daughters: Jacqueline Handy of Owosso, Michigan, Judy DeNike of Glendale, Arizona and Jill Seney and husband Jim of Harrison, two sisters: Doris Shaw and husband Ted of Harrison and Shirley Putz and husband Mark also of Harrison, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Handy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Milo "Bud" E. Handy.
   Funeral services were held Sunday, November 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Elder Dale Beavers officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.
