MARY
ARLENE OLSON
Mary Arlene Huntley
Olson died peacefully in her sleep of multiple illnesses on March 5,
2006. She was 84 years old.
Born in Dexter, Maine in 1921, Arlene graduated high school in
Lubec, Maine in 1941, and received her LPN from Shapiro School of
Nursing at Sinai Hospital in Detroit in September of 1973.
She married Philip Olson on March 31, 1944 in Lubec, Maine. They
moved to Harrison, Michigan in 1981 from Madison Heights, Michigan. They
are members of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Philip W. Olson;
daughters, Sandy Mitchie and Jan Olson; one granddaughter, Keli Benson;
one great-grandchild, Serena Benson.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 11:00
a.m. from St. Luke Lutheran Church in Harrison with Pastor Michael
Schaedig officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2006
from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Memorial
contributions may be considered to the St. Luke Lutheran Church, the
Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association. To share

MYRA R. GAMBLE
Myra R. Gamble, 91, passed away
March, 19, 2006 in Harrison. Myra was born September 2, 1914, in Monroe,
MI, the daughter of Frederick and Faye (Webb) Oerther. Mrs. Gamble was
united in marriage to Kenneth R. Gamble on April 17, 1937 in Monroe, MI.
Kenneth preceded Myra in death on August 8, 1975. Mr. and Mrs Gamble
opened Harrison Septic Tank in 1947 and in 1957 opened Rockcrete Transit
Mix in Clare.
Surviving are two sons: Kenneth F. (Gloria) Gamble and Walter
(Bill) W. (Cathy) Gamble both of Harrison, two daughters; Diane (Ron)
Bentley and Teresa (William) Jackson both of Harrison, seven grand
children and fifteen great-grandchildren. Myra was preceded in death by
her parents and two brothers; Walter and Frederick Oerther.
Funeral services were held March 22, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. from
Stocking Funeral Home Inc. with Mr. Gary Wood officiating. Interment was
in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison. Those considering a memorial

Cancer Foundation or MidMichigan Hospice and Visiting Nurses

CARL THOMAS

Carl J. Thomas,
age 87 of Harrison, died March 19, 2006. Beloved Husband of Lillian,
sharing over 64 years together. Loving Father of: John (Karen) Thomas,
Marilyn Thomas, Richard Thomas, Judie (David) Santo, Pamel (Michael)
Skutnik, Suzanne (Thomas) Bennett and Bonnie (Scott) Skurda. Proud
Grandfather of: Kirk, Kal, Johnny, Richard, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah,
Robert, Cassidy and the late Terry. Great Grandfather of: Jeffrey, Joel,
Mandi, Jannelle, Aleecia and Jeremi. Dear Brother of: Alvin (Betty)
Thomas and Andrew Jr. (Harriet) Thomas. Also survived by many nieces and
nephews. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at Church of the
Holy Spirit, 3700 N. Harvey Lake Road in Highland. Visitation will be
held Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black &

ROGER SCHAAR
Roger Schaar, 72
of Harrison, formerly of Brighton, died at home on March 12th, 2006.
Devoted husband of Theresa of 47years.
He was a mason contractor, loved to golf and was into Nascar. He
served in the United States Marine Corps.
Loving father of Darrel, Ronald (Debra), Patrick (Tina), Roger
(Kathy). Loving grandfather of Ryan, Kory, Kristyn, Karlee and Hunter.
Dear brother of (late) Elinor (Len) Sosinski, Edward (Jean), Robert
Dorcas, (late) Ken Schriner.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Florence
Schaar, one sister- Elinor Sosinski and brother George.
Funeral was conducted by Griffin Funeral Home in Livonia.
