ROBERT L. VALLANCE

   Robert L. Vallance, age 79, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Clare Hospital.
   Robert was born May 4, 1930 in Riverdale to Rolland and Beatrice (Jacobs) Vallance. He served in the United States Armed Forces during Korea from 1950 to 1951. He married Dorothy Sweet in January of 1989 in Mason. He retired from General Motors in Lansing and was a member of UAW Local #652. Robert was also a member of the Harrison Moose Lodge #2235, the American Legion and a life member of the Oldsmobile Outdoor Club. He enjoyed playing pool, dancing, fishing and the out of doors.
   He is survived by his wife Dorothy Vallance of Harrison, three children, Rick of Baltimore, Maryland, Jeff and Denise both of Charlotte, two step-daughters, Cindy (Doug) Hubbell of Leslie and Brenda (Bernie) Woodward of Harrison, several grandchildren, step grandchildren, Jeremy (Lindsey) Hubbell, Cheyenne and Luke Hubbell, Douglas Bowen, Melissa and Bobbie Kissee and a great granddaughter Cheylyn. Also two brothers, Pete (Rose) Vallance of St. Louis and Jerry Hendershott of Thompsonville and a sister Joyce (Charles) Smith of Lansing.
   Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
   A funeral service was held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 1pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Riverdale with Pastor Carl Cecil officiating. Interment was in Riverdale Cemetery. ROBERT J. DUBY II
Dec. 28, 1949 ~ July 11, 2009

   Robert J. Duby II, 59, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 11, 2009. He was born on December 28, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Robert & Elizabeth (Miller) Duby II. He married Mickie Gary on May 20, 1988 in Harrison, Michigan. He had lived in Clare county for the last 22 years, previously residing in Saginaw. He was employed at Ameritech for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He also worked part time at Home Depot in Houghton Lake. He was currently Director of the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Gladwin, Michigan, as well as a member of Grace Baptist Church, Gladwin, Gladwin Masonic Lodge and Volunteer Fireman, working for multiple Departments throughout the years.
   He is survived by his wife: Mickie Duby of Gladwin, MI; daughter: Melissa (David) Gombar of Saginaw, MI; daughter: Heather (Mark) Weslock of Breckenridge, MI; son: Robert Duby III of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter: Shirley (Jim) Kregear of Falmouth, MI; daughter: Tina (Mark) Ritchey of Redford, MI; son: David (Amy) Wright Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; 9 grandchildren; sister: Beverly Fika of Alma, MI; several nieces & nephews; brother-in-law: Richard Luedke of Saginaw, MI.
   He is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Sally Luedke; brother-in-law: Jim Fika. Funeral Services were conducted on Thursday, July 16, 2009, 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, with Pastor Sam Wilson officiating. Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 1-9:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. He was laid to rest at Hamilton Twp. Cemetery, Harrison, Michigan. THOMAS HALE NELSON

   Nelson, Thomas Hale, age 70 of Brooklyn, MI, died suddenly Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Herrick Medical Center. Tom was born January 7, 1939 to Curtis D. and Pauline (Anderson) Nelson. On August 7, 1958 he married his wife of 48 years, Aki Shimabukoro. Kay preceded Tom in death on October 3 1, 2006.
   Tom will be missed by his son Thomas A. Nelson and his wife Lynn of Hope Mills, NC grandchildren Curtis B. and Taylore S. Nelson of Hope Hills, NC. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Joann Sams.
   The family gathered with friends on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel. A graveside service took place on Saturday, June 27, at 12:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrison, MI. JOHNNY LEE HENRY
DECEMBER 25,1952 ~ JUNE 26, 2009

   Johnny “John” Lee Henry, 56 of rural Harrison, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Mid Michigan Medical Center-Clare. John was born December 25, 1952 in Harrison, Michigan, the son of Roy Franklin and Florence Margaret (DeBarr) Henry. Mr. Henry was united in marriage to the former Ruth Ann Heroy on January 26, 1974 in Harrison. John had resided in Harrison his entire life.
   Mr. Henry spent many years in the Oil Patch working as a mechanic. John was a member of John J. Carton Masonic Lodge #436 of Harrison. In his free time, John enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, fishing, dancing, wood crafting and watching NASCAR.
   Surviving is his wife, Ruth Ann Henry of Harrison, one daughter, Bonnie Sue Baker and husband Mike of Cadillac, Michigan, one son, Bill Mills and wife Mary of Harrison, one brother, Bruce Henry and wife Linda of Harrison, three sisters: Nancy Tedrow and husband Gerry of Michigan Center, Michigan, Susan Gedney and husband Paul of Harrison and Ruth Henry also of Harrison, six grandchildren: Johnny Lee Mills, Nolan Kramer, Ruth Ann Kramer, Piper Baker, Chelsea Mills and Shayla Mills, one great-grandson, Johnny Lee Mills Jr., plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Exec. Pastor Tim Fall officiating. Burial was in Summerfield Township Cemetery, Harrison.
