Mrs. M. Susan (Liichow) Smith, of
Gaylord died on Friday, Jan 23, 2009. She was born in Newberry on May 9,
1949. She was a licensed social worker and licensed practical nurse. She
greatly enjoyed her work with various agencies and families throughout
Northern Michigan.
She is survived by her husband Russell D.; daughter Jennifer
(Joshua) Deegan; her father C.J. (Ruth) Liichow; four sisters Pam
(Jerry) Schulz, Connie (Chuck) Bootz, Cecily Bailey and Beth (Don)
Llewellyn and many loving nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death
by her mother Genevieve Liichow.
Sue enjoyed golf, boating, traveling, being a nurse and caregiver,
working in the flowerbeds and time spent with her family and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at
11 am from St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord, with Rev. John McCracken
officiating. Interment will be held at Twin Lake Cemetery in Lincoln.
Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord will be held on
Sunday from 6-9pm and on Monday from 1-4 & 6-9pm. St. Mary Daughters of
Isabella will recite the rosary Monday at 3pm.

GENEVA GREEN
Geneva Green, 98,
of Harrison, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Gladwin Pines
Nursing Home of Gladwin. Geneva was born January 3, 1911 in Johnston
City, Illinois, the daughter of John and Anna (Bargiel) Kubaiko. Geneva
was united in marriage to Mr. James "Jim" Green on January 1, 1938 in
Rolla, Missouri. Mr. Green preceded Geneva in death on August 22, 1970.
Geneva had resided in Harrison since 1960, coming from Milan, Michigan.
Mrs. Green enjoyed knitting, crocheting, hunting, fishing, playing
bingo and visiting the casino.
Surviving are two loving daughters: Honey Goble of Ithaca, Michigan
and Tootie Roth and husband Dale of Harrison, two sons: John Green and
wife Diane of Batesville, Mississippi and George Green of Bismarck,
North Dakota, one brother, Jack Kubaiko of Phoenix, Arizona, one sister,
Sophie Stivers of Conway, Arkansas, a sister-in-law, Jean Kubaiko of
Berkley, Michigan, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren
and four great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Green also was preceded in
death by her parents, one son, Steve Modric, one daughter, Shirley
Emberton, four brothers: Mike, Henry, Joe and Fred Kubaiko, and two
sisters: Mary Bunk and Rose Kubaiko.
Burial services were held Monday, January 26, 2009 at
Washtenaw Memorial Park and Mausoleum of Ann Arbor, Michigan with family
attending the burial. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Green may
