JENNIE SOPHIE MICHALSKI

   Jennie Sophie Michalski, 94, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home of Gladwin. Jennie was born September 4, 1914 in Dowagiac, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Pilot) Snyr. Jennie was united in marriage to Mr. Stanley Michalski on October 14, 1933 in New Boston, Michigan. Mr. Michalski preceded Jennie in death on November 17, 1990. Mrs. Michalski had resided in Harrison since 1980, coming from Wayne, Michigan.
   Jennie was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison and a life member of the American Legion Post 404 - Ladies Auxiliary of Harrison.
   Surviving is one daughter, Delores Williams of Harrison, two sons: Donald Michalski and wife Mary of Belleville, Michigan and Stanley Michalski and wife Sally of Romulus, Michigan, three brothers: Henry Snyr and wife Beverly of Manitou Beach, Michigan, Leonard Snyr and wife Pat of Onsted, Michigan and Chester Snyr of Clinton, Michigan, one sister, Lillian Carpenter and husband Gene of Oregon, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Michalski also was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Walter, Eddy and Matt Snyr and two sisters: Sophie Falatine and Helen Kasperek.
   Funeral services for Mrs. Michalski were held Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Sister Jean Baumann officiating. Interment was in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Wyandotte, Michigan. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Michalski may be considered to: American Legion Post 404 - Ladies Auxiliary of Harrison. MONROE CROSS

   Monroe Cross, age 87, of Harrison, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at King's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Houghton Lake. Mr. Cross was born the son of Henry and Louisianna (Sexton) Cross on January 1, 1922 in Oneida, Tennessee. He had served in the United States Army during World War 11, in Sicily, Naples, Rome, the Rhineland and Southern France with the 724th Field Artillery Battalion and was separated from service on September 20, 1945. He then went on to work in the automotive industry as an assembly like worker.
   On May 16, 1959 he married the former Grace F. Thomson in Berkley, Michigan and they later moved to Harrison in 1969. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1075 and liked to garden, go fishing and hunting and spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and especially his wife of nearly fifty years.
   Survivors include his wife, Grace; his sons, Danny Cross of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and James Brown of Harrison; his daughters, Judith (Greg) Carpenter of Lake City, Michigan, Sandra (Greg) Lott of Harrison and Donna (Robert) Borgognoni of California and his grandchildren, Cindy (Bill) Economou, John (Kelly) Sulla, Kim (Joe) Cox, Karen Shafer and the late Rick Shafer, James (Sheryl) Underwood and Shane (Bel) Lott, all of Harrison and 14 great grandchildren.
   Mr. Cross was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Tamlon and Rosier Cross and two sisters, Tina Chambers and Grace Ellis.

WILLIAM CARL IADIPAOLO

   William Carl Iadipaolo, 63, of Harrison, suddenly passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Mid Michigan Medical Center-Clare. Mr. Iadipaolo was born December 11, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of John and Betty (Stahl) Iadipaolo. William was united in marriage to the former Dorien Pelton on November 18, 1964 in Centerline, Michigan.
   Mr. Iadipaolo had resided in Harrison since 1992, coming from Warren, Michigan. William was a member of the Leota Community Church, Leota, Michigan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching Star Trek on television.
   Surviving is his loving wife, Dorien Iadipaolo of Harrison, three sons: Brian Iadipaolo and wife Joyce of Harrison, Sean Iadipaolo and wife Renee of Houghton Lake, Michigan and William Iadipaolo and wife Norma of Onaway, Michigan, one daughter, Michele Pomeroy and husband Dan of Harrison, his parents; John and Betty Iadipaolo of Harrison, fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   Memorial services were held Monday, February 16, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. from Leota Community Church with Pastor Jerry Britton officiating. Inurnment will be in Summerfield Twp. Cemetery, Harrison. GEORGE G. SERVISS

   George G. "Jerry" Serviss, age 87, of Harrison, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center in Clare, Michigan. Mr. Serviss was born the son George R. and Una (Godbold) Serviss on January 31, 1922 in Greenville, Michigan. He had served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals for service in the North Appenines, Rhineland and Central European Theatres with the 71st Infantry, 44th Division, USA. He then went on to work as a Journeyman Welder, retiring in 1984 from the Ford Wood Haven Stamping Plant.
   On June 30, 1941 he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Balint in Elsie, Michigan. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1075, having served as Post Commander in 1972 and 1973; the Harrison American Legion Post #404, and was also a member of the Harrison Fraternal Order of Moose Lodge #2235; and the 40 & 8, Voiture 767 of Clare County. Mr. Serviss had lived in the Harrison area since March 1984 where he had moved from Trenton, Michigan.
   Mr. Serviss is survived by his wife, Margaret Serviss, of Harrison; his son: Gary (Sharon) Serviss of Roscommon; his daughters, LynnDay (Garnet) Lucier of Remus, Michigan and Jane (Richard) Vershave of Harrison, Michigan and his beloved ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. 5 nieces and 2 nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
   Private services were held on Tuesday, February 3rd with Rev. Gerald Baxter officiating. Burial was in Hayes Township Cemetery. Memorial services will be held later in the Summer of 2009.

THOMAS D. ROUSSEAU

   Thomas D. Rousseau, 57, of Saginaw, passed away January 13, 2009, at his home in Saginaw following a brief battle with metastasis melanoma. Tom was the son-in-law of former residents Harry and Cora Riedel. Tom was born February 24,1951 to William and Thelma Rousseau. He was united in marriage to Virginia (Ginny) Riedel on April 2, 1977. Tom and Ginny have a residence in Harrison.
   Surviving are his wife, Ginny and daughter, Hannah. He is also survived by his father, William, his brothers Robert and William, Jr. and sister Michelle (Dubrulle) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
   Tom retired from General Motors in 2004 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Harrison. He enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking Budd Lake with his crossword puzzle, watching the world go by. He was an avid pinball enthusiast, golfer, and reader. He was referred to as the family's "Renaissance Man" and could carry on a conversation about just about anything. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
   Funeral services were held January 17, 2009 at the Case Funeral Home. Chaplain Cathy Teter presided. Cremation has taken place with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clare County Animal Shelter, 4040 Hazel Drive, Harrison, Michigan 48625.

GERALD PIERRE ECKMAN

   Gerald "Jerry" Pierre Eckman, age 68, of Lake George, passed away at 1:46 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009. Jerry was born the son of Adolph and Madge (Rasmussen) Eckman on January 4, 1941 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jerry was a retired dental technician, a tinker, outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman who loved his community and life.
   Jerry is survived by his son Dwayne and his daughter-in-law Barbara of Alexandria, Virginia; his Step-Grandchildren Brett and Brian and an expected Grandson Thomas Pierre; his sisters Joyce Timler of League City, Texas; Joanne Shakley of Rowayton, Connecticut; and Janice Chapman of Lake George. His final resting place will be next to his parents in the Lincoln Township Cemetery located in Lake George. In keeping with Jerry's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, February 9, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. GORDON HENRY HOYLAND

   Gordon Henry Hoyland, 70, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away February 4, 2009. Gordon was born in Webberville, Michigan, on June 20, 1938 to Richard Frank Hoyland and Fannie Pauline (Collins) Hoyland.
   Gordon is survived by his wife of 20 years Mary (Sutherland) Hoyland; his daughter Rachel (Shelly) Sloan (Jim); Stepchildren, Sharon, Vickie (Don), Donald (Regina), Mary (Mike), Douglas (Lynn), David Scott (Lorie), Daniel (Renee), Faron Lee; brother, Emmett Hoyland; sister, Barbara Hanshett, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Joann Neits, and 2 grandsons.
   Gordon and Mary operated GMH Siding for 20 years. They loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and being outdoors. He will truly be missed by many. Per Gordon's wishes cremation services are being provided by Gorsline-Runciman, DeWitt Chapel.
