GLEN R. STANTZ
(1944 -2007)

Glen R. Stantz,
63, formerly of Bryan, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at Mid
Michigan Health Center in Gladwin.
Born Nov. 28, 1944, at Bryan, he was the son of Dorothy M. (Sites)
and Glen W. Stantz.
A 1963 graduate of Bryan High School, he was employed by Ely
Wayside Furniture in Bryan in the early 1960s. He was also employed by
the Ohio State Highway Dept. before moving to Michigan in the 1970s.
Glen was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.
Surviving is a son, Kevin (and wife, Debbie) Stantz of Montpelier;
aunts, Helen McDonald and Goldie Mowery, both of Cerro Gordo, Ill.; and
an uncle, Harry Sites of North Jetson, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time.

ELOSIE BALMER
Eloise Balmer, 95,
of Onekama, died November 30, 2007, at the Manistee County Medical Care
Facility in Manistee. She was born June 21, 1912, in Columbus Grove,
Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Susie (Basinger) Lugibill.
Eloise attended Bluffton University and Ohio Northern College where
she graduated with a degree in Pedagogy. She taught school in a two-room
schoolhouse, and later worked as a social worker for the State of
Michigan. Eloise was a member of First Congregational Church in Onekama.
She had been the organist at First Congregational Church in Harrison for
over 25 years. Eloise was a very upbeat woman who will be remembered for
her positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor. Even well into her
nineties, at many 4th of July parties, Eloise brought the house down
with her "marriage in the nudist colony" joke.
Eloise is survived by: her children, Susan (Roger Smith) Balmer of
Bear Lake, and Pat (Rosalind Jaffe) Balmer of Onekama; her
grandchildren, Lucas Balmer of Onekama, Sarah Balmer of Ann Arbor, and
Rachael Balmer of Ann Arbor; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Parsons of
Ann Arbor.
On June 6, 1936, in Clare, Eloise married George Andrew Balmer who
preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her
son, Joseph Balmer and her parents.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at First
Congregation Church in Onekama.
The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of

IRENE MARIE WALSH
Nov. 21, 1950 to Nov. 26, 2007

Irene Marie Walsh,
passed away after a 2 month battle with cancer. Past Senior Regent of
the Harrison Women of the Moose. Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary
of the VFW Menge Post in Warren, MI.
Dear wife of Robert, mother of James, Jennifer, Jaime and Jodie.
Loving grandmother to Brittany, Christina, Marco, Brooklyn, Zachery,
Shelby and Bryce. Memorial service to be held on Dec. 16 at the Harrison
Moose Family Center.

MELVIN “BUD” GALEN DAVIS
Melvin “Bud” Galen
Davis 79 of Harrison, Michigan passed away Thursday, November 29,
2007 at home. Mr. Davis was born October 19, 1928 in Coldwater,
Michigan, the son of Kenneth and Goldie (Locklin) Davis. Melvin served
his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Bud was united in marriage to the former Allene Caroline Butts on August
4, 1951. Mrs. Davis preceded Bud in death. He was then united in
marriage to the former Nancy Lee Taylor on May 28, 1988.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy Lee Davis of Stanton, two sons: Ken
“Jeep” Davis of Grant, Michigan and William Davis and wife Lee of
Murrieta, California, four daughters: Pat Clark and husband Bob of
Harrison, Davetta Sieja and husband Keith of Clinton Twp., Michigan,
Debra Brichford and husband Mark of Livonia, Michigan and Teresa
Eglington of Clinton Twp., one step-son, Shawn Makohon and wife Tammy of
Sheridan, Michigan, one step-daughter, Sandy Gotwalt and husband Rick of
Stanton, four brothers: Vern Davis and wife Sharon of Harrison, Marvin
Davis and wife Carolyn also of Harrison, Ed Davis and wife Sharon of
Lansing, Michigan and Gerald Davis and Linda also of Lansing, four
sisters: Laura Ash of Quincy, Michigan, Velta Parker of St. Helen,
Michigan, Lolita Duvall of Lansing and Polly Bennett and husband Dave of
MO., twenty grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, plus numerous
nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by his parents,
one brother, Gene Davis and one sister, Esther Davis.
Funeral services for Bud were held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at
12:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Marion Hall
officiating. Military honors were conducted under the auspices of the
Harrison V.F.W. Post 1075. Inurnment was in Maple Grove Cemetery,
Harrison. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Davis may be
